Comments: It was a beautiful spring like Sunday morning and it was lovely to see our enthusiastic kids as usual. We started our class with chanting Om three times and then went on to do our yoga stretches. While doing the butterfly pose today, our colorful butterflies got a chance to review our colors in Sanskrit.
Once we were all warmed up it was time for Shlokas. The kids loved to help lead the Shlokas. Some of the little helpers were able to lead the Shlokas all by themselves. Great job kids and thank you parents for helping them practice. We did two chants today; Om Namo Baghavate Vasudevaya and ॐ गम् गणपतयॆ नमः – Om gam gaNapataye namaH. After Shlokas and Chanting, it was time for Bhajans. We loved to dance to Great God Hanumaji and Great God Ganapathy. The kids had lots of fun. We then chanted the five verses of chapter 12 of the Geeta as a group. Some of the kids were able to chant the verses all by themselves.
At craft time we made paper bag puppets of the Blue Jackal. The kids did an awesome job of glueing all the pieces together to make some fierce looking Jackals. After working hard on their craft, it was snack time. Anand and his family brought in snack for the entire class.
After snack we counted to 10 in Sanskrit and got ready for Story time. Today we heard the story of the Blue Jackal. We learnt that nothing good really comes from telling lies to your friends. After Story time we played a quick game of ‘Head Shoulders Knees and Toes’. We learnt to sing the song in Sanskrit. It was a lot of fun.
We ended out class with the closing Shlokas.
