Game to introduce the children to each other. Please use your discretion as to whether this game will be successful on Day 1 of Pre-K class. It may work very well for a group of kids who know each other. It will probably not work if the children are crying on Day 1.
Needed: A music player with children friendly song, a stuffed toy to pass around.
Make the children sit in a big circle with at least one teacher interspersed.
Start the music and ask the children to pass the toy around.
The child who has the toy when the music stops has to say "Mama Naama (their name)".
Make sure that the toy stops at the hands of the teacher the first time so that he/she can explain what needs to be done.
Make the toy stop in the bolder kid's hands the next few times.
(Coax but do not force each child to say their name. They may not be comfortable speaking out on Day 1. There should be a decided improvement when the game is played a few months later)
