Comments: We had a small class today, thanks to the 3 day rain storm and power outages. We truly appreciate those that came to balavihar despite the bad weather, inclusive of a hail storm! We did our regular prayers, bhajans and geeta chanting. The kids are ready to start the 5th geeta shloka in the upcoming class! That is so impressive. Parents, please be reminded to register your children online. It will take only 2-3 minutes of your time, plus, we have a pretty good chance of winning the ice-cream party too! We are one of the biggest classes at balavihar and we have won this party in the past. Let's do it this year too!!
The story today was about the गजेन्द्र (gajendra - king of elephants) whose foot was caught by a मकरः (makaraH -crocodile) and was rescued by shrIman naaraayaNa Himself. As an extension of the story, we made a paper plate elephant who had no trunk! But guess what, it had no trunk because the hand of the children would serve as the trunk for the elephant!! We needed a working trunk to offer the lotus to Lord Vishnu, so what better than the little hands of our toddlers themselves :).
Snippets: During the bhajans, aunty said that the next one is for both Lord Krishna and Rama together. Our toddler says, 'Ravana is a bad guy, we will not sing song for him!' Obviously! Who sings the glories of the bad guys!! Simple words, great thoughts - that is what we get from our toddlers.
