Comments:
Hari Om Everyone,

We had our first full class of Balavihar this week with our young friends. We got to do all the activities we typically do in class.

Thanks to Sangeetha Aunty for providing us with such a creative craft of the Ganesha Paper Bag Puppet. We must say that all the little Ganeshas looked absolutely gorgeous.
A special thank you to Pranav’s mom for bringing a tasty snack. We learnt to thank Pranav and his family in Sanskrit by saying ‘धन्यवाद’.

We had a lot of fun doing our stretching and yoga. We exercised not only our hands, feet and muscles but also our voices when we roared like lions. We stood tall like trees and pretended to flutter around like butterflies. We continued with Ganesha as our theme. We chanted our Shlokas and learnt a new bhajan - Great God Ganapathi. The kids and parents had a lot of fun learning the actions for this song. Through the song and we learnt a lot of things about Ganesha. It was surprising to see that almost all the kids knew who Lord Ganesha is and how he looks. We learnt that he rides on a tiny mouse and loves to eat ladoos and modaks. We also talked about Ganesh Chaturthi which we all celebrated last month. We also got introduced to Ganesha's family. We learnt that Shiva and Parvathi are his parents and Kaartikeya is his brother. We also learnt that we always pray to Ganesha before we undertake any task and that he gives us the ‘buddhi’ to accomplish any challenging task. We also saw pictures of Shiva, Parvathi and Kaartikeya and learnt some of their attributes.

Parents, please continue reviewing these at home with the kids by asking them questions like -
• Who is Ganesha’s mother?
• Who is his Father? What does he have on his head?
• Who is his brother? What does he ride on?
• What did he do when he was faced with a challenge?

Next class we will review these again and learn some of the other names of Ganesha.
