Aarthi and Pledge at the auditorium

Comments: Another beautiful, though breezy, Sunday went by. We were all a teeny bit sleepy today! We had to turn our clocks forward. We started with the 3 Oms. Warm up Yoga with Rupa Aunty helped us shaky away our sleepies a little bit. We thought of the big waters in Japan and dedicated all our prayers to the people in Japan. We have more volunteers coming up front and leading shlokas. It is very nice to hear them recite the shlokas so well! After this we decided that we still had some of those sleepies sticking to us and so, we got up and danced and sang our all time favorite Ganapathy song. Then we practiced the Geeta, verses 1 – 5. Then it was time to play our new guessing game: Names of Gods/Goddesses. Today, we learnt about kArtikeya who is the brother of gaNesha. He rides a peacock (mayUraH) and has a spear known as Vel. Some of his other names are subrahmaNya, Guha, Murugan, KumAra. We also learnt about Goddess pArvati, who is the wife of Lord SivA. We saw 2 pictures in which she looked different. Some of her other names are durga, kAli, dEvi. We will practice these different names at home. For craft today, we did an Origami style dog puppet to go with today greedy dog story. Today’s snack was provided by Pooja and family. After snack we did our 1 – 10 in English and Sanskrit and got ready for Anitha Aunty’s story. This story was about a hungry dog who found a nice juicy bone to chew on. While he was enjoying the bone, he felt thirsty and went to a little stream. When he looked at his reflection with the bone in his mouth, he thought it was another dog inside with a bigger, juicier bone and wanted to get the other bone as well. When he opened his mouth, his bone fell into the stream and he lost it forever! If he had not been greedy, he would still have his bone to enjoy! After story time, we met Sri Alukah and played a game with him. Then it was time for ending prayers. Today’s Aarathi was at the auditorium.
