Comments: Our class was fun today! As usual, we started with the 3 Oms and did our Yoga stretches. We learnt the tortoise pose. After this we said our shlokas. Today, we learnt असतो मा सत् गमयः – asato Ma sat gamayaH. After shlokas we sang bhajans. Then it was time for Geeta chanting. The children have started chanting confidently. We hope to see many of our little friends come forward and lead the chanting with Nanda Aunty in the coming weeks! Please make sure to register for the competition if you have not already done so. Then we had a quick game of guessing the names of the Gods/Goddesses. This time, we played it a little differently. Rupa Aunty would sing a line from one of the Bhajans of the God and we had to guess the name of the God. The children did remarkably well and also supplied the other names that the Gods were known by. Then we said Brahmaarpanam and had our snack. Today’s snack was provided by Aditya and family. After snack we counted 1 – 10 in English and Sanskrit and got ready for our story. Today’s story was about a farmer who was very poor and hardly had any food to eat. He found a magic goose in the forest who gave him a golden egg which he sold and got a lot of money to buy food and clothes and toys. Every day , he wanted more and more and the goose kept giving him more golden eggs, one a day. The farmer became greedy and decided that he was going to cut up the goose and get all the golden eggs out, instead of getting one at a time. The goose was very upset with him and ran away into the jungle! The farmer learnt not to be greedy and be happy with what he had. We then did our craft. It was a basket of eggs. The children had to pick up a basket each and six eggs each from the heap in the center of the circle. After they got their pieces, they helped their neighbors get their pieces and glued the eggs to the baskets. It was fun watching them. Then we had a new song : Head, shoulders, knees and toes and we sang it in Sanskrit! Then Shri AalokaH came to visit us and did the song with us(although he did not have shoulders or knees )! Then it was time to wind up and we said the finishing shlokas. There is no Balavihar on March 27th. See you all on April 3rd.
