Comments: We had a slow start today and weather was a bit sleepy but we picked up later on. We said our 3 Oms and did some Yoga stretches to wake us up. After Yoga we started our Shlokas. We had a few helpers come up and lead the shlokas. As part of parent participation theme Reya and her dad said the Mooshika vahana shloka on Lord Ganesha. We moved on to Bhajans. After a long time we sang our favorite Ganesha action song. We had help from Roshan’s mom, Rhea’s dad and Pooja’s mom with the bhajans. After bhajans we had a little game of colors with Rupa Aunty. The children remembered their colors very well! Good job kids! After colors, we did our craft for the day. Today’s craft was an adorable lion puppet put together by Vishnu’s mom. It is Narasimha jayanthi today, the birthday of Lord Narasimha (the lion faced and human bodied avatar of Lord Vishnu) hence the lion puppet. After craft we chanted brahmArpanam and had our snack. After snack time, we counted 1 – 10 in English and Sanskrit and got ready for our special story time with Rhea’s mom. It was a story about the monkeys and the clever cap seller. The cap seller put his bag of caps under a tree on the way to the city and took a nap. Meanwhile, the monkeys that lived on the tree climbed down and took all the caps and wore them. The cap seller was shocked to see this when he woke up. He began thinking of a way to get his caps back from the monkeys. While he was thinking he sneezed. The monkeys imitated him and sneezed too. Then he got an idea. He threw his cap on the floor. The monkeys followed him and did the same! He got back all his caps and went and sold them in the city. The moral of the story is that we should never give up hope and faith in God and always should believe in ourselves. The kids all got special caps from the ‘cap seller’ and were really excited about them! It was a lot of fun. Thank you Rhea’s mom and dad for the enjoyable story time! We then did the head shoulders knees and toes song with Aryan and Lakshmi’s mom. We sang Om Jaya Jagadeesha Hare and finished off with the ending prayers. See you all next week!
