Comments: It was wonderful to meet our little friends after a 2 week gap! They have familiarized themselves with the class routine and fallen into a comfortable pattern. We started with our Om chanting. At yoga, we did our usual poses and did a new one today, the snake pose! After Yoga, we said our shlokas. Vikram helped us start the shlokas with वक्रतुण्ड महाकाया - vakratuNDa mahaakaayaa. Today’s new shloka was नमस्तेस्तु महामाये – namastEstu mahAmAye on Goddess Lakshmi. After chanting ॐ गम् गणपतयॆ नमः – Om gam gaNapataye namaH 5 times, we moved on to Bhajans. Neeraja wanted the class to sing Jaya Jaya Devi and so we started with that! All the kids did a beautiful job singing the Bhajans! They were amazing! We started our Gita chanting today by learning to chant the first shloka. Although it may seem like the children are not saying much yet but they pick up at an amazing speed and chant with appropriate pronunciation! After Gita chanting, we needed a snack break! Before that we learnt to count 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit! Then we said ब्रह्मार्पणम् – BrahmArpaNam and got ready for snack time. Today’s snack was provided by Nagaraj and family. After snack time, Ram uncle (Vikram’s dad) spoke about CORD Walkathon that is going to be on the 23rd at Mercer County Park. CORD is all about sharing and giving to help the people in need. Today’s story helped us understand that sharing is very good and everyone can be happy by sharing rather than being greedy and keep toys and treats to ourselves. In the story, the two cats, Ramu and Somu found a nice yummy cookie on the floor and started fighting over it instead of sharing it. Kapish, the clever monkey decided to trick the cats and eat the whole cookie himself without sharing. So he broke the cooki into 2 halves and kept eating a bit from each half in the name of making it equal portions for each cat! In the end he ate up the whole cookie and Ramu and Somu didn’t get any piece of it! Then the cats realized that they should have shared the cookie with each other! After story time, we did a connect the dots cat craft. Then HanumAn came to visit us in class and we played hanumAn vadati with him. We concluded with the ending shlokas and went to the auditorium for Aarati and Pledge. We had loads of fun today! Hope you did too! See you next week.
