Comments: It was a cool, fall Sunday. So we decided to warm up with Yoga after starting with our 3 Oms. We did some stretches and poses, roaring like lions and hissing like snakes and playing peek-a-boo like turtles and of course jumping like monkeys! Now that we were all warmed up, we sat down and chanted some shlokas. Vikram and Diya helped by leading 2 shlokas and Krishna helped us learn a new one on Rama. We also chanted ॐ गम् गणपतयॆ नमः – Om gam gaNapataye namaH 5 times. Then it was time to sing some Bhajans. Today’s Bhajans were Listener’s Choice! Diya requested a Krishna Bhajan and then Reya requested everyone’s favorite Ganesha Action Song! Then we sang the Gayatri Mantram. Of Course, we had to sing Neeraja’s favorite जय जय देवी - jaya jaya devI ! Then we revised our Bhagavat Gita Chapter 12, first verse. We discussed a little about the CORD Walkathon. It was then time for our craft of the day. Since Deepavali is coming up soon we made sparklers with glitter foam and icecream sticks. The children had a lot of fun making the craft today! After that, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit and said ब्रह्मार्पणम् – BrahmArpaNam and had our snack. Today, Ananya and Aditya brought us the snack and we said धन्यवादः (DhanyavaadaH) to them! After snack, we had story time with Madhu Aunty. She told us the story of the Evil Narakasura and how Lord Krishna destroyed him and freed the world! In South India, this is considered to be the reason we celebrate Deepavali, the festival of lights! In North India, we celebrate the festival of lights as the day Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after destroying the evil Ravana! In both cases, it is the prevelance of Good over Evil! Let the lights of Deepavali destroy the darkness of the mind and make it shine with love always! Then we sang the first stanza of Aarti and finished with ending shlokas. Next week, we hope to meet you all at the Mercer County Park, East Picnic Area!
