Comments: We met today after quite a long break or at least it seemd that way! The kids seem to have grown taller already! It was a lively session today. We started out as usual by chanting ॐ (Om) 3 times and moved on to do our stretches and Yoga during which we did some fun poses including forming a jungle of trees! After Yoga, we moved on to shlokas. Our little helpers are getting really good with leading the shlokas ! we learnt a new shloka on our favorite God Hanuman. After chanting ॐ गम् गणपतयॆ नमः – Om gam gaNapataye namaH 5 times, we started with Bhajans. We first sang our all time favorite Ganapathy song! We learnt a new song on Rama, खाते भि राम कहो पीते भि राम कहो – khaate bhi Ram kaho peete bhi Ram kaho. We decided to try remembering Rama in whatever we do. We also came up with some suggestions like painting, dancing and singing. We will continue to add to the song by and by. Then it was Gita chanting time. We learnt the second verse of chapter 12. We are going to keep practicing our verses. As it was craft time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit while we waited for the packet to be given out. For craft, we made spider puppets. We had all kinds, scary ones, colorful ones, cute ones and funny ones. Then, it was definitely time to take a snack break! Today, Satvik and family brought in the snacks. After snack time, we got ready for our story about Anansi, the spider. Anansi loved good food and he asked his wife to make pumpkin pie. While she cooked, he couldn’t wait for it so he went for a walk and along the way, he wanted to have the Pizza that Rabbit made and the Mac and Cheese that the Monkey made and the cupcakes that the Hog made and all the other yummy food some of his other friends made. He told each of his eight friends to tug at one end of the string that he tied around each of his eight legs. It happened so, that all his friends tugged at his legs at the same time since all of the yummy got ready at the same time! Poor Anansi had to jump into the river to get rid of the strings tugging at his legs and by the time he got to their houses, they had already finished up their food and so did his wife by the time he got back! Since he was greedy for all the food, he had to go hungry! After story time, we had enough time to do our ending shlokas and head to the Auditorium for Aarati and Pledge. Today’s class was a lot fun and it is nice to see that all the kids have settled into the class pattern quite well.
