Comments: It was very nice to see the eager kids and enthusiastic parents on this cold and wintery morning. As usual we started our class with chanting Om three times. We really needed to warm up on this cold morning and Reshma aunty (Lakshmi’s mom) lead us through the yoga and warm up stretches.

After Yoga, it was time for Shlokas. The kids loved to help lead the Shlokas. Some of the little helpers like Satvik, Diya, Rohini, Nagaraj, and Krishna were able to lead the Shlokas all by themselves. Great job kids and thank you parents for helping them practice. After chanting ॐ गम् गणपतयॆ नमः – Om gam gaNapataye namaH 5 times, we started with Bhajans. Today Ramya aunty (Satvik’s mom) helped us with the bhajans. She even brought in a keyboard. The kids were really excited and we got to learn a new bhajan “Atma Rama”. Then it was Gita chanting time. We chanted the first, second, and third verses of chapter 12. We are getting better with our Gita chanting and we are going to keep practicing our verses.

Today at craft time we made Sun Masks. The kids shined bright through their masks. After working hard on their craft, it was snack time. Srinidhi and her family brought in snack for the entire class.

After snack we counted to 10 in Sanskrit and got ready for Story time. Today we heard the story of ‘The Sun God and Wind God wanting to go on a vacation’. We learnt that we have to be thankful to the elements of nature like the Sun, Wind, and Rain for a good harvest. After the story Meena aunty (Diya’s mom) showed us how Pongal (Harvest Festival) is celebrated in Tamilnadu. We got to hold a pot and play a game of ‘passing the pot’. The kids and parents shared in their languages how they wish each other during the harvest festival. It was lots of fun.

We ended out class with the closing Shlokas.
