Comments:   Today was the first full class of the year. It was nice to see all the bright young faces all charged up and ready to have a lot of fun. Many of them are already very familiar and comfortable with the class routine and they launched right into it. We started with saha na vavatu and spoke about why we say it. We say this shloka to establish that we are all friends and we would like to be friends and never fight and learn from each other. Then we warmed up with Yoga exercises with Anandhi Aunty. We did some cool poses today. we became lions and roared our heads out. Then we were butterflies fluttering around. We also became cobras and said "Hari Om" to each other. After Yoga, we sat down for Shlokas with Abhirami Aunty. We saw a beautiful picture of Ganesha with a curvy trunk and big body and the brightness of a million suns when we chanted vakratunda! Then we learnt how the gods are in our hands giving them the power to do a lot of things while chanting karaagre vasate lakshmiH. It is like saying good morning to the Gods and we should say it as soon as we wake up. Then we learnt about our Gurus and prayed to them as they are equal to God. After shlokas we started with our very first Geeta chanting verse from chapter 14. Then Sirisha Aunty led us through Ganesha sharanam and then made us dance to Great God ganapathy. All of the activities made us a little bit hungry and we decided to have a snack break. We chanted brahmaarpanam to thank God for giving us yummy snack to eat. After snack time we made Ganesha puppets. Then it was story time. Today's story was very funny but it had a very important lesson. Ganesha made us laugh by eating up all of Kubera's furniture but he made us realize that when we offer with true love it is much more valuable than all the riches and beautiful things! A note to the parents: There is a wonderful book by Brni Nishita Chaitanya, Chinmaya publications for this story.
