We would like to take a moment to reflect on the tragedy that occurred in the Sandy Hook Elementary school. Our hearts go out to the parents going through this tragedy.

This week we talked about a very important theme which was sharing. It is especially important during this time of the year where we receive and give so many gifts. It is important for the kids to understand that by sharing we actually receive so much joy. We repeated the shlokas that we learnt last week, just by repeating them several times we will get really good at it. Please make sure you also repeat them at home and explain why we say it and when we say it. The Vedic chanting really works well for quiet times and otherwise too.
As we all know our action songs are superhit with the kids. This is the time when they really get to dance and enjoy the Bhajans. How we wish Rupa Aunty would introduce more songs like these.
Progress in Geetha chanting has increased twofold. Now everyone looks very comfortable and is chanting freely including some kids. We will reach our goal very soon and even learn more than that. For a great tool to help in chanting please check the link below.

Keeping with our theme we talked about Christmas and why Santa shares his gifts with us. We talked about the theme further in the story which was about two cats and a monkey. When we refuse to share amongst ourselves someone else takes advantage of it. Parents you can discuss this story with the kids during holidays. This theme is really apt with the Holiday theme. What happens when we share? What do we gain, if we gain anything?
We talked more about the story during the craft time. This week we made a cat and were introduced to Origami. As usual, Parents you can use the craft to talk about the story at home.
In Sanskrit we repeated our numbers and played Hanuman vadati. Parents, you can keep repeating these numbers so they can count on their own. For reference please check the link below.
For counting sheet please the link below.

Questions for this week.
- What did the cats do when they found a piece of Cheese? Did they share?
- Who did they go to for advice?
- Who ate the cheese finally?
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2013.
