Story:  Goose that laid the Golden Egg

Craft:   Golden Egg craft

Comments:  It was another great day at our BAlaVihar!  We started as we always do with our opening prayer and yoga. Then we revisited our old shlokas adding Gurur brahma this time around. We chanted the  Geeta together as a group and sang our favorite bhajans. All too soon it was snack time and we all said brahmArpanam and thanked Ruhi's family for the yummy snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit, which the children are now completely familiar with and enjoy doing. The colors book was read next, with the kids getting to be experts at this point! In our story time, we listened to the story of the greedy farmer who had a goose that laid a golden egg every day. He tried to get all the eggs at once, and ended up losing everything! We colored and decorated "golden" eggs for craft.  We sang Arati, said our concluding prayers and ended yet another joyful session. Our next class will be on May 18th. It is the day of photo shoot for the sovenir, so please dress in bright Indian clothes for the occasion!

Comments:  It was wonderful to see all our little friends again after the long break!Anandi Aunty joined us today and it was so much more fun! We started as always with our opening prayer and yoga. Then we revisited our old shlokas in addition to Karacharana kritam. We continued with Geeta chanting as a group and sang  Bhajans. We then said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Adith Kumar's family for the delicious snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit, which the children are now completely familiar with.  We had story time next and heard an inspiring story about Uddalaka Aruni's devotion to his Guru. To our reflect our devotion to our Guru, the children colored a picture of Gurudev. The colors book was read next, with the kids getting to be experts at this point! Arati and Pledge were at the auditorium today. Our next class is on May 4th, 2014.

Comments: It was great to meet up with all our toddler friends after a break! As the children have gotten very familiar with our class routine, they led many activities today!  They led us all in opening prayer and yoga. We decided to say a familiar prayer (vakra tunda) in addition to our new ones. Then we continued with Geeta chanting as a group and sang  Bhajans, with the kids once again in-charge!   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Arkit's family for the fun snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit. The children enjoy counting in  Sanskrit,and love doing the colors with the book.  At story time, we heard  the story of how the honest woodcutter was rewarded by the fairy, while his greedy friend was taught a lesson. We concluded with closing prayers. Our next class is on April 27th, 2014.

Comments:  It was another fun day at the toddler class! We started the class, as always,  with our beginning prayers and yoga, then went on to chant shlokas  and all five verses of the Bhagavad Geeta.  After Geeta chanting, we sang  Bhajans, with the kids leading the singing!   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Devanshi's family for the yummy snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit. The children are getting very used to Sanskirt, not just with the numbers , but also the colors, with the book.  At story time, we heard  the story of how Krishna taught proud Indira a lesson by lifting the Govardhana Giri with this little finger!  The concluding prayers, aarti and pledge were in the auditorium

Comments: Another joyous gathering with our little friends! As always, we started the class with our beginning prayers and yoga. Then, we chanted our shlokas  and all five verses of the Bhagavad Geeta.  After Geeta chanting, we sang  Bhajans , including the new one on Lord Shiva, Bolo bolo sab mil bolo.   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Krishna's family for the yummy snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit!  We practiced our colors in sanskrit and and the kids are really enjoying "reading" the book!  At story time, we heard  the story of the smart stork and the mean fox. The stork shure taught the fox a lesson - to not tease friends just because they do things differently.  We played "Hanuman vadati" and finished the class with  Aarti and concluding prayers. Our next class is on March 16th, 2014.

As always, we started the class with our beginning prayers and yoga. Then, we chanted our shlokas  and all five verses of the Bhagavad Geeta.  After Geeta chanting, we sang  Bhajans , learning a new one on Lord Shiva, Bolo bolo sab mil bolo.   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Krisha's family for the yummy snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 15 in English and Sanskrit!  We practiced our colors in sanskrit and and the kids are really enjoying "reading" the book!  At story time, we heard  the story of the hard-working ant and the lazy grasshopper. We figured out that there is a time to play and a time to work! We played "Hanuman vadati" and finishedthe class with  Aarti and concluding prayers. Our next class is on March 9th, 2014.

We started the class with our beginning prayers and yoga. Then, we chanted our shlokas, learning a new one of Lord Shiva (kara charana kritam) and all five verses of the Bhagavad Geeta.  After Geeta chanting, we sang  Bhajans , including our latest one on Krishna- Nandalala, Yadunandalala.   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Lipi's family for the delicious snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit. We practised our colors in sanskrit and enjoyed reading the book!  At story time, we heard  the story of the elephant and the mouse,  where the elephant learnt that there was always another way- to be kind to all, to help and be helped even by the little mice!  Aarti and pledge were in the auditorium. Our next class is on March 2nd, 2014.

Comments: It was another great day with all our little friends! As always, we started with our beginning prayers and yoga. We did all our usual poses and practised our  new pose- the Bug pose. Next, we chanted our Stotras  and Bhagavat Gita. We chanted our shlokas, including the new one on Goddess Lakshmi (Namastestu) and all five verses of the Bhagavad Geeta.  After Geeta chanting,  we sang  Bhajans and learnt a new one on Krishna- Nandalala, Yadunandalala.   Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Raghav's family for the delicious snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit. We learnt a new word in Sanskrit- "Uurukam" (pant)  while doing our colors with the book.  At story time, we heard  the story of the lion and the mouse, which became friends, even though they were very different.   We finished the class with Aarti and concluding prayers. Our next class is on February, 23rd, 2014.

Comments: Today was  a day for learning something new in every part of our class! As always, we started with our beginning prayers and yoga. We learnt a new pose- the Bug pose. Next, we chanted our Stotras  and Bhagavat Gita. We learnt a new shloka on Goddess Lakshmi (Namastestu) and also started on verse 5 of the Geeta.  After Geeta chanting,  we sang some Bhajans including our favorites Subrahmanyam and Khaate bhi Raam kaho. The new bhajan we learnt was Great God Hanumanji.  Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Pranav's family for the yummy snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit. We learnt a new word in Sanskrit- "yutakam" (Shirt)! while doing our colors with the book.  At story time, we heard  the story of the fast but lazy hare that was defeated in a race by the slow and steady tortoise. We decided that it was better to keep working and not take a break until we are finished with our work! Aarti and Pledge was at the auditorium today. We will meet again for our next class on February 9th.

Comments: Our first class in the New Year was just great. It was very nice to see all our little friends in the class, picking up where they left off. We said our beginning prayers and then the yoga helped us warm up.   Then we happily sat down to chant our Stotras  and Bhagavat Gita.  As they are getting more familiar, the children are also joining in the chanting.  After Gita chanting we sang some Bhajans including our favorites Great God Ganapathy and Khaate bhi Raam kaho.  Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Sneha's family  for the delicious snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit and got ready to learn our colors.  We continued to work on our colors book to learn our colors in a fun way! We will continue with the book next class. Then it was story time. We heard the story of the ant and the dove who helped each other and became good friends. We finished with two fun games- Shirah skandau and Hanuman vadati (with colors). The class was completed with Aarti and chanting Om Poornamadah. We will meet again for our next class on January 26th.

Comments: An extremely cold morning greeted us as we headed for Balavihar but it was totally worth coming in to spend a fun class with our little friends! Yoga warm up really helped us today with getting warmer after which we sat down to chant our Stotras and Bhagavat Gita. The Aunties were excited to hear the children starting to chant out loud! After Gita chanting we sang some Bhajans including our favorite Great God Ganapathy and Khaate bhi Raam kaho. Then we said Brahmaarpanam and thanked Sirish for the delicious snack and had snack time. After snack time, we counted 1 - 10 in English and Sanskrit and got ready to learn our colors. All the kids know their colors so well now! They will learn some more new colors next class. Then it was story time. We heard the story of the two cats that lost the donut to the monkey because they refused to share! After story time, for craft, we made a cat puppet. Finally, we were able to squeeze in some time for a game of Hanuman vadati and Shirah skandau... before heading to the auditorium for Aarati and Pledge. We will meet after a break on December 8th.
